Junos: Grammys, but with Maple Syrup
As a practical neighbor to the ceremonies, I figured I ought to give a recap of the Juno Awards, which is of course the Canadian version of the Grammys. Hosted in God-knows-how-old-it-is St. John’s, NL, Canada, the so-called “Eastern Tip of North America,” the event lasted for a week, finishing up with the nationally televised ceremony. The night started off with a bang as hip-hop group, Classified, walked through a very crowed George Street, and performed O Canada. Kiddo and I of course heard the event both on our television and through an open window as it happened. Awesome opening, guys!
Now for the list of the awards. If when you think of Canadian Music, you think Michael Bublé, that stands to reason; the dude came off with an arm-full of trophies. There were many awards given out during the ceremonies, many of which that were handed outside of the televised event including my new addiction, Deadmau5 (Best dance Album). Anyway, for your enjoyment, here’s the complete list of the 2010 Juno Awards.

At the end of the ceremonies, there was much celebration on the streets, during which Deadmau5 was seen wandering around the bars with his giant mouse-head on, Classified dropped more tunes, and Damhnait Doyle and Kim Stockwood, official George Street hosts, wrapped up the outside events. Happy 2010 Junos, everyone. It’s now 6:00am Newfoundland Time, and I think I still hear the Juno traffic passing me by. Maybe if I’m lucky I can float around the Sheraton Hotel and score some Justin Beiber merch–errrr, I mean some autographs from the performers….
